29 Things I Learned From David Carr

Commissioned by director Erin Lee Carr as a companion piece to her 2019 memoir All That You Leave Behind, 29 Things I Learned From David Carr brings her late father’s advice and personality to life through animation. I animated the short segment featuring 29 pieces of advice from the celebrated journalist and New York Times writer David Carr, pairing his words with playful motion graphics and limited 2D animation. Created using After Effects and Toon Boom Harmony, the piece is set to music by Nada Surf and transforms Carr’s memorable observations into a lively, personal animated portrait.
