A Change for Sundays

“Don’t cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it.”

This has been one of the busiest years of my life. Now, 8 months after my post (in January!) I think it’s about time for an update!

After much consideration, I’ve decided to change the approach of my animated film, Sundays. Initially, as you can see evidenced in this blog, I planned to create it digitally then transfer it to handmade paper with natural inks and watercolors for a unique touch.

However, with my increasing responsibilities: home renovations, personal relationships, my role as Co-Lead for WIA NYC, and Chair of the Art Department at WPU, I needed to manage my time more effectively.

Although it’s tough to move away from my original plan after investing in materials, I realized I was falling into the sunk-cost fallacy. Therefore, I’ll be moving forward with full digital animation for Sundays.

The sunk-cost fallacy is a “phenomenon where a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it’s clear that abandonment would be more beneficial”. [Oxford Dictionary]

With that said, I’ve made a ‘proof of concept’ of my animation, and am head over heels for it! After making this leap, I am not going back!
